CREW Orange County is proud to support the following organizations:
WISEPlace Women’s Transitional Shelter
One of the most pressing social needs in Orange County is the issue of homelessness. The County of Orange reports that there are more than 35,000 homeless individuals, almost double the number reported in 2000. More than half of the homeless individuals reported are women and children. No community, including the affluent ones, has been unaffected by this problem.
Women that end up homeless include former abuse victims, seniors, 18-years-olds emancipated from foster care and those with developmental disabilities. They are women who find themselves without shelter. Searching for a new beginning, a way to once again be contributing members of society. At WISEPlace, we're here to help.
WISEPlace offers housing and support services for homeless women who are committed to changing their lives. WISEPlace has an 85-year history of caring for local women and was the YWCA of South Orange County. By meeting basic needs such as housing, food, clothing, physical and emotional nourishment, as well as vocational and life skills training, WISEPlace is one of the few places these women can go to begin again.
As a community non-profit, WISEPlace returns 81% of our donations to saving the lives of homeless women. Visit www.wiseplace.org for more information
CREW Foundation
CREW Foundation, founded in 1998, is the philanthropic arm of CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Network, a professional association of successful commercial real estate women throughout North America. As of 2005, CREW Foundation has awarded almost $500,000 in grants to organizations that assist women and girls to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
Through CREW Foundation, CREW Network members and supporters seek to make a difference both nationally and locally in the lives of women and girls who want to achieve the same successes in their chosen careers that members of CREW Network have attained through their careers in commercial real estate.
CREW Network is one of the first professional groups of its kind to create a national philanthropic effort.
