WISEPlace is the evolution of the South Orange County YWCA. This venerable/brand new agency has a 78-year history in the county of care and concern for women, children and families. Founded in 1924 in Orange County, the agency opened its first facility in 1929 on the corner of 5th and Main Streets in Santa Ana. In 1985, in response to the growing number of homeless women in the county, the agency launched a successful $1.1 million campaign to open a "Hotel for Women", its flagship program today. In 1999, the agency made a decision to further redefine and refine its service to women and branched out as WISEPlace - WOMEN inspired, supported and empowered. WISEPlace is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation.
